When I arrived home from work the other day, Gia asked me if I could take her outside with her new, little box of colored chalk. It looked like it was about to rain, but I knew she was excited to go outside and spend some time with me. So we did. As we walked toward the sidewalk, she said, “Mommy, let’s chalk up a gray day!” I knew I had heard that phrase before, but I couldn’t figure out where at the time. The phrase came from Amelia Bedelia Chalks One Up! Anyway, Gia and I had some fun “chalking up a gray day” before it rained! Although we may not be artists, we certainly had a fun time together – Mommy and her little one!
